kiyora spa collaboration with freedom restoration project.

Meaningful partnerships often spark at celebrations through casual chats, aligned values, and a genuine “How can I help?”— just like this one.

I’m excited to reveal Kiyora Spa’s new alliance with the Freedom Restoration Project (FRP), blending our wellness expertise with their trauma recovery mission to drive impact in Chiang Mai via cross-promoted audiences.

Kiyora Spa delivers authentic Lanna-inspired massages, body treatments, and custom aromatherapy in a tranquil haven, fusing ancient traditions with modern methods for deep mind-body restoration.

Unlike typical tie-ups, this partnership reflects our shared passion for holistic care, especially in supporting trafficking survivors, by connecting our communities, introducing FRP members to our therapies, and sharing their healing programs with our guests to foster mutual growth.

My Journey with Kiyora Spa

I’m Emmy, founder of Kiyora Spa, a Chiang Mai wellness haven that has thrived for over 12 years. As an aromatherapist, crystal healer, and mother of two young children, I live and breathe wellness every day after making this massage paradise my home for the past decade, following my roots in Australia.

A family member’s late-stage cancer diagnosis transformed my path; embracing holistic tools like food as medicine, breathwork, sound therapy, meditation, and oils led to nearly five years cancer-free, affirming whole-person restoration.

From Personal Challenges to Business Wellness Advocacy

Chiang Mai’s decade-plus tenure brought emotional trials, family pressures, and raw entrepreneurship—bootstrapping Kiyora through cash crunches and ops chaos exposed how unresolved pain erodes both body and venture.

These fires ignited my healing mastery in diverse massages, bodywork, aromatherapy’s balm, Thai traditions, Ayurveda, and Lanna rites, birthing Kiyora as my sanctuary that empowers local therapists via community-sourced herbs for lasting resilience.

This evolution naturally forged our alliance with Freedom Restoration Project (FRP).

Discovering Freedom Restoration Project

A few months ago at a Chiang Mai women-led network event, I discovered FRP, their compelling presentation on trauma recovery programs in Thailand stopped me in my tracks. FRP’s mission to restore freedom for human trafficking and exploitation survivors through counseling, life skills, and community reintegration resonated deeply.

I knew instantly Kiyora Spa’s platform could amplify their vital cause. With our established wellness audience across social media, newsletters, and Chiang Mai networks, we can shine a spotlight on FRP’s work, drive awareness, and connect supporters to their life-changing programs.

This platform-sharing partnership lets Kiyora’s community discover FRP while expanding their reach, turning our influence into real impact for survivors. This realization drove me to connect immediately, transforming shared values into collective action.

The Spark — International Women’s Day

This story really begins at an International Women’s Day event hosted by Mae Rim Connect — a wonderful community of women living in the Mae Rim area of Chiang Mai. A huge thank you to Leigh, the organiser of Mae Rim Connect, for creating a space where women can genuinely connect, support one another, and inspire each other. Events like these are where magic happens.

It was at this event that I met Jennifer.

Meeting Jennifer from FRP

Jennifer is a full-time volunteer for FRP — the Freedom Restoration Project — an NGO doing incredible work here in Thailand. When she told me about FRP’s mission, I felt an immediate connection. I didn’t hesitate. I asked her directly: “How do I get involved?”

FRP is a non-governmental organisation focused on freedom, rest, and restoration for vulnerable people. Their work goes beyond immediate support — they are invested in helping people rebuild their lives with dignity and sustainability.

Why This Felt Right

I have always believed in helping people create sustainable livelihoods — not handouts, but genuine skills and opportunities that allow people to stand on their own two feet. Emotionally. Physically. Financially.

The alignment with FRP’s mission felt natural and undeniable. Wellness, empowerment, and community — these are values that sit at the heart of everything Kiyora Spa stands for. This was not just something I wanted to support; it was something I needed to be part of.

What Does FRP Do?

FRP is a nonprofit dedicated to helping survivors of human trafficking and exploitation reclaim their lives. Founded with a mission to break cycles of abuse, FRP provides comprehensive support through counseling, vocational training, and community reintegration programs.

FRP’s Mission and Vision Statements

Their core goals focus on trauma recovery and empowerment.  Equipping individuals with tools to heal emotionally, build skills, and achieve independence. Through evidence-based therapies and life coaching, FRP guides survivors toward freedom, emphasizing dignity and self-worth.

In Thailand, FRP concentrates on Northern regions like Chiang Mai, where trafficking networks prey on vulnerable communities. They partner with local organizations to deliver culturally sensitive programs, including safe housing and job placement. FRP’s Thailand work addresses root causes like poverty and migration, having supported hundreds of women and children since establishing operations.

At Kiyora Spa, our collaboration with FRP advances SDG 5 (Gender Equality) by promoting female survivor empowerment through platform awareness and audience reach, helping break violence cycles.

Our women-led team further embodies this through staff empowerment, mentorship, assertive communication training, and benefits like sick leave for period pains—championing female leadership while amplifying FRP’s mission to our global wellness community.

What We’re Building Together

Since that first chat with Jennifer, our partnership has blossomed beautifully. Here’s what we’re building together:

Embroidered & Personalised Cards at Kiyora Spa

One of FRP’s projects involves creating beautifully embroidered holiday and personalised cards. Kiyora Spa is now proudly stocking and selling these cards. Every purchase directly supports the people behind FRP’s work. Next time you visit the spa, look out for them — they make truly special gifts.

Kiyora Spa as a Community Venue

Kiyora Spa is opening its doors to FRP for speaking events. We want this space to be more than a place of personal wellness — we want it to be a place where important conversations happen and where community comes together around meaningful causes.

Monthly Handmade Card Workshops

I am also excited to introduce monthly handmade card workshops hosted at Kiyora Spa. These workshops are a creative, hands-on experience tied to FRP’s work — a beautiful way to connect with the cause, learn a new skill, and take something handmade home with you. Watch this space for dates and details!

Why This Partnership Matters

Our partnership bridges global wellness audiences, expats, tourists, digital nomads, and FRP’s international supporters.  It sparks shared awareness.

Kiyora Spa promotes FRP’s recovery mission, survivor programs, donation opportunities, and hand-embroidered cards to our spa enthusiasts and global followers, while FRP shares our wellness services, massage and body treatment offerings, and aromatherapy expertise with their dedicated audience.

We link Kiyora Spa’s worldwide followers to the FRP network. This tackles inequalities under SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).  It opens up restoration resources like healing support for all kinds of communities, no matter their background.

Community Impact

This partnership creates real change by supporting Chiang Mai’s vulnerable groups such as trafficking survivors, abuse victims, and low-income families through amplified awareness and resources.

Through our Chiang Mai spa location, social media reach, newsletters, online presence, and local networks, we’re channeling meaningful support directly to those who need it.

This collaboration honors Thailand’s holistic traditions, turning collective influence into tangible empowerment and hope.

Long-Term Vision

Kiyora Spa and FRP envision sustained collaboration beyond initial promotion. Future efforts include cross-platform campaigns, joint social media series with survivor stories, and co-hosted Chiang Mai awareness events. We’ll amplify FRP’s reach through our newsletters and networks, while inviting them to share wellness wisdom with their audience.

This platform sharing supports SDG 8 (Decent Work) by showcasing FRP’s vocational training, fostering sustainable jobs for survivors among our followers. Kiyora Spa contributes through staff training, empowerment, mentorship, annual salary increases adjusted for inflation, bonus leaves for longevity, free “Bubble Burst” meals (daily targets reached), Employee of the Quarter recognition, and local sourcing of herbs and supplies—building fair livelihoods for Chiang Mai families while turning pain into purpose.

We aim to expose all our guests to FRP’s programs across shared channels, creating a replicable advocacy model for Thai wellness businesses. Success metrics include rising FRP donations, expanded mutual audiences, and testimonials showing better wellness access.

This builds enduring community bridges for generational restoration across Northern Thailand.

Join Us on This Journey

This is just the beginning. I am genuinely excited about where this collaboration will grow, and I look forward to sharing more with you as we go. If you are moved by FRP’s mission, there are ways to get involved — from attending our workshops, buying the cards at Kiyora Spa or simply making a direct donation, to spreading the word in your own community.

Wellness with purpose. That is what this is all about.
