Benefits From A Good Night’s Sleep

Last updated: 1 January 2024

Getting a good night’s rest is one of the best ways you can keep your body healthy. While it might seem more advantageous to get less sleep in order to do more work or catch up on your marked Youtube clips, you do both your body and mind a disservice when you don’t get as much sleep as you can.

Lower Stress Levels

Getting a full night’s sleep helps to reduce stress and improve concentration. You are more likely to feel pressure from work if you are having a hard time concentrating and completing your tasks. This might lead to frustration, irritation and unhappiness. Sleep improves mental functions and ensures you are ready for the day without feeling tired. You will be able to perform better at work or school and absorb as much as possible during a holiday so try not to stay up until the wee hours of the morning studying, working or whatever tends to keep you up late.

A higher stress level makes it less likely for you to enjoy your time off. When you are receiving a world-famous Thai massage in Chiang Mai, you don’t want to be thinking about everything you need to finish in the workplace. So do yourself a favour and start improving your sleeping patterns tonight!

Improved Memory

A good night’s sleep will also help your memory. For example, studying before bed actually assists the brain in retaining more information, which helps with exams. While sleeping, the brain works on retaining memories throughout the day. That’s why getting good sleep on vacation is great — you wouldn’t want to forget seeing Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain, outside of Chiang Mai when you visit.  Nor do you want to forget the small details of your holiday.

Better Immune System

Studies have found that sleep likely improves your immune system. Everyone says to rest when you’re ill — they’re not wrong. Resting and allowing the body to fight off bacteria and viruses will lead to a quicker recovery. When you are exhausted, your immunity decreases and you can become sick faster. Ensuring eight hours or more of sleep every night is a great way to prevent illnesses. It won’t be foolproof, but you only stand to benefit.

For example, while touring Chiang Mai, you want to be rested in order to enjoy the nightlife. The Chiang Mai Night Bazaar and Playhouse Theatre are amazing staples of nightlife in the city, but if you are ill, you will be resting in bed rather than experiencing everything the city has to offer.

Less Pain

Sleep acts as a natural pain medication — sufficient sleep may lower the level of chronic pain. It might be difficult to sleep well while you’re in pain, but you may be able to take a sleep aid to assist with that. It may also reduce inflammation.

You certainly wouldn’t want to worry about pain while viewing the magnificent Buddhist temples, or wats, in Chiang Mai. The city features more than three hundred wats, and several are more than six hundred years old. They are a must-see in the city and proper sleep will help you fully appreciate them. A full night’s rest can only help you in your attempts to view the wats, visit nature, and have the most fun possible in Chiang Mai.

Bottom line – please don’t neglect sleep!  Make sure you find time for it so that you can enjoy life to the fullest.
