At Kiyora, we’re in the business of caring for people’s wellbeing. As we welcome more…
Being the largest organ of the body, the skin reflects the overall health and well being of the entire body. So without adequate antioxidants from our diet, the skin will likely display the damage that’s occurring internally.
Papaya (or paw paw), is a tropical fruit shaped like a melon, with edible orange flesh and small black seeds. It is incredibly nutritious, loaded with plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Most have used papaya as a dietary source to avail its tremendous health benefits. But by following some simple steps, you may also use this amazing fruit to treat many skin issues and achieve youthful, glowing skin.
Below are some suggestions on how to directly enjoy the benefits of papaya on the skin.
– Skin hydration
Mix a few drops of honey in mashed papaya and apply directly on the face. Leave for as long as possible, then wash off.
You may also use this preparation to hydrate and moisturize dry skin, as well as cracked heels.
– Skin exfoliation
Papaya has natural exfoliation properties that are better than store-bought chemical scrubs.
To remove dead skin cells, apply mashed papaya on the face, leave for five minutes and then rinse off with cold water.
For an excellent body scrub, mix olive oil, honey and salt with mashed papaya, and apply on the body.
– Facial tan removal/ Sunburn relief
To get rid of suntan, pigmentation or sunspots from the skin, puree half a banana, some papaya and cucumber and apply as face mask for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water, then wash with cold water, and pat dry with a clean towel.
This face mask can also reduce skin inflammation due to sunburn.
– Skin whitening
The peel of ripe papaya may be used to naturally lighten the skin tone by rubbing it on cleansed face, arms and legs, leaving it for 5-7 minutes, before rinsing with cold water. Repeating this 2-3 times a week will provide better results.
– Anti-aging/ Skin tightening
Blend papaya, rice flour and milk cream to make a smooth paste and apply on the face, leave for 20 minutes, then wash off with cold water. Repeat this process 2-3 times weekly for visible results.
To tighten the skin, and relax fine lines and wrinkles, mix mashed papaya with some egg white and leave on the skin to dry (about 15 minutes). Once dry, wash off with warm water, then with cold water, and pat dry.
Now, don’t these all sound absolutely delicious?
So if you haven’t already, why not try and integrate this super fruit into your healthy diet and while you’re at it, into your skin diet too!
